What’s New?

New drug for carsickness in dogs

If your dog has carsickness, we can help! We are excited to introduce Cerenia™, the first medication approved by the FDA to treat motion sickness in dogs. It is in pill form and is given as a single dose two hours prior to travel. Cerenia blocks vomiting signals caused by anxiety or movement associated with travel. For more information, please call us, or visit the Cerenia website at www.cerenia.com.

Referral Program Update!

We are now offering an even bigger “thank you” for your referrals! Just refer a friend or family member to our hospital. When they come for their first visit and tell us you sent them, you will receive a $20 gift certificate to be used at our facility. Be sure to tell your referral to visit this website for a coupon entitling them to a complimentary first visit. That way, everyone wins!

Dental Health Awareness

While both human and veterinary medicine tend to shift their focus to dentistry primarily during the month of February, we believe every month is dental awareness month! Here is a list of questions you should ask your pet’s dental health care provider:

  • “Do you offer free dental consultations?”
  • Do you have the capability to take dental x-rays and how often do you take them?”
  • “Are dental x-rays included in the price of a dental cleaning?”
  • “Does the doctor examine my pet’s mouth?”
  • “Does the doctor probe each tooth?”
  • “Is my pet constantly monitored by a doctor and nurse under anesthesia?”
  • “Do you use local anesthesia to numb my pet’s mouth during painful dental procedures?”
  • “Will I receive a treatment plan for periodontal disease or other dental conditions?”
  • “Do you offer options other than extraction for diseased teeth?”
  • “Can I see where my pet’s procedure will be done?”
  • At Main Street Veterinary Hospital, we answer YES to all the above questions!

    Now Offering Express Check Out

We understand that your time is valuable. For your convenience, we are now offering “Express Check Out” for boarding and groom pets. Simply leave your credit card number with our staff when you check in your pet for a boarding stay or a “spa day.” Your card number will be encrypted and entered in your pet’s file. Before it’s time to pick up your pet, our staff will finalize your invoice and charge your card for the total. Just call us a few minutes before you arrive, and we will have your pet brought up for you as quickly as possible.

    Invitation “Behind the Scenes”

Much of the care your pet receives happens behind the scenes, where clients traditionally have not gone. We at Main Street Veterinary Hospital believe you have a right to see where your pet is housed and treated. We extend an open invitation to you to come to “the back” with a staff member. When you admit your pet to our hospital for a stay, whether it be for treatment, boarding or grooming, you are welcome to accompany your pet to the treatment area. In case our staff should forget to invite you, please don’t hesitate to ask! And, remember, we are always happy to take you on a tour through the hospital and boarding facilities.

    An alternative to antibiotic pills

Is it a struggle to give your pet pills? If so, life just got easier. Convenia® is an antibiotic that is given as a single injection and provides a two week course of uninterrupted antibiotic treatment. It is approved for use in both dogs and cats. Convenia® is not appropriate for all types of infections, so ask your veterinarian if it is an option for treating your pet’s medical condition.

New Emergency Clinic, close to home

We are pleased to announce the opening of the DFW North Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Flower Mound. They are a full-service emergency and urgent care facility and are open weeknights from 6 pm to 8 am the following morning, and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. They are located at 2311 Cross Timbers, Suite 319 in the Sprouts shopping center. A “sister” hospital of the North Texas Emergency Pet Clinic, DFW North is fully equipped to provide the same excellent after-hours care you have come to expect for your pet, only close to home. Please make a note of their phone number: 469-464-2964. (If you need after-hours care for your pet and don’t have their number handy, just call us; the DFW North Emergency Veterinary Clinic phone number is on our answering machine message.)

Going “green” to better serve you

In our constant effort to provide you with the best service possible, we are transitioning to a paperless record system. This will mean that your pet’s complete medical record will be stored in our computer system. Our system is completely secure, with daily backup and off-site data storage.

All forms and consents will now be typed directly into your pet’s medical record, and your signature will be digitally captured. We anticipate that this will streamline your check-in process and make information regarding your pet more readily accessible to all our team. Please bear with us as we go through “growing pains” with our new system. You can further assist in your check-in process by downloading any forms appropriate for your visit from our “Forms” page and completing them before you come in.

Thank you for your patience with us as we make the changes needed to provide you with stellar service!

    Referral Program

The greatest compliment you can give us is the referral of your friends and family. We would like to make it easy to recommend us! Just print this referral card and give to people you know who need a great veterinary hospital. Remember to fill in your name; when your referral comes in for their first visit, we will show our appreciation by placing a $10.00 credit on your account. Thanks for helping us grow!

    Medication Prices

We care about your pet’s health! It can be risky to purchase your pet’s medications over the internet; the product is often made abroad and is generally not guaranteed by the manufacturer.

To encourage the use of safe and effective products dispensed by a veterinarian, we keep our prices competitive with major internet pet pharmacies. We also offer a 10% discount if you purchase a 12 month supply of heartworm or flea prevention. And if you prefer the convenience of home delivery, we will be happy to mail your medication to you for a small additional fee.

    Check out our prices!
