Veterinarians

Denise Smith, DVM

Dr. Denise Smith is a general practitioner and owner of Main Street Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Smith, who opened the practice in 1988, grew up in Dallas, Texas, and says there was never a question in her mind about her future career. Becoming a veterinarian was her goal since elementary school!

After receiving her Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 1983, Dr. Smith stayed at Texas A&M to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. She is certified to perform ultrasound examinations.

Dr. Smith has been married to her husband Avery more than 25 years. Their eldest daughter, Amy, is studying international business at Baylor University. The Smiths also have three daughters adopted from China. April likes to play piano while Lilly prefers the violin; the youngest, Betty, is still deciding what her hobby will be. The family's four-legged friends are Sara, an American Eskimo, and cats Buttercup, Calvin, Coach and Chanel.

Dr. Smith says she is addicted to the Food Network and enjoys cooking, hiking through the New Mexico forestland and gardening. She hopes to someday work with the Christian Veterinary Association and help animals in third world countries.
