Dr. Colleen Phelan - Veterinarian

${name}

Dr. Phelan was born and raised in Texas.

Her love of animals started at a young age, but it was not until she was an adult that she was drawn to veterinary medicine. Colleen graduated with a degree in Chemistry and then earned an MBA, both from the University of Dallas which lead to a career in finance and banking while trying to decide what she wanted to be when she grew up. She quickly began volunteering with animal shelters and rescue groups and realized veterinary medicine was the perfect way to combine her love of animals with her scientific curiosity. Colleen is a 2020 graduate of Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine (Geaux Tigers!) and worked in emergency veterinary medicine for three years before joining Main Street Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Phelan's areas of interest include integrative medicine, pain management, and soft tissue surgery. She trained in veterinary acupuncture at Chi University in Reddick, Florida.

When she is not working Dr. Phelan enjoys reading, listening to live music and watching live theater. She and her husband share their home with a Great Dane named Daphne, a mostly mastiff named Woody, and a very vocal kitten named Magnolia (all rescues).
